Correct me if I'm wrong (highly plausible) but...
Turbo timers are not to cool the turbines, aren't they designed to give the turbo time to spool down while keeping them lubed with oil? As if to avoid them rotating without oil and causing advanced wear on the shaft? I know the water pump for these cars are electric but not the oil. So if I park my car and shut it off after 'spirited' driving wouldn't the turbos be running dry? Despite their temp?
Even with ball bearing turbos, they are only spinning for a few seconds after shutting the engine off. Turbo timers were from the days of oil only turbos, they would keep your car running for a pre-defined time to circulate oil so it wouldn't cook off in the sleeve when the turbos were still red hot.
